Bridge Over the Moat surrounding the Mandalay Palace

Dozens of trips, to and through Mandalay.
And always a glimpse of the moat.
Maybe, I long for something.
The sun on water.
Does the bridge care, who has passed over it?

A Simple Dish of Khay Oh

A simple dish.
A delicious dish.
A much loved dish.

I put this onto my Facebook page yesterday, just to ease a small pang of homesickness.
And almost immediately the comments poured in.
Made me realized again (the first time was at the Iron Cross concert) of the thousands of homesick brothers and sisters out there.

Stone Inscription on the Shwedagon

In a quiet corner, somewhere on the Shwe Dagon.
I found this place.
My wife and daughter in tow.
I have been to the Shwe Dagon hundreds of times, but this simply shows that that night turns familiar places into different places.
I found it enchanting.

The Clock Tower At the Maha Muni Statue Pagoda

This clock tower is in the the Maha Muni Buddha Statue Pagoda compound.
I never really took a good look at it, during my many visits. But during my last trip to Mandalay, I found myself right in front of it. Searing hot temperature.

This is a quick snap, taken in February 2009.
I desaturated the shot for great effect, and I hope I enhanced the overall effect.

Jet Plane over the Nagar

This picture was taken by my brother.
An amateur photographer, with an eye and passion.
Taken somewhere on the Yankin Hill, right near Mandalay City.
Obviously he did not set this up!

Rainy Afternoon, Downtown Yangon

I took this picture on the 23rd of September last year, 2008.
In downtown Yangon, in the afternoon, where it suddenly became dark like a bad horror movie and then the rain simply pelted down.
And then as suddenly as it started, it was over.
And this is what the place looked like.
So I whipped out my camera and got a series of shots.
I liked this one the best.

A kinda lonely feeling!
